قال أبو عبيدة معمر بن المثنّى: أسير مثل في البغض قول المُتلَّمس: أَحارِثُ إنَّا لوْ تُسَاطُ دِماؤنا تزَايَلنَ حتَّى لا يَمَسَّ دَمٌ دَما وقال عن قصيدته الميمة هذه: لم أسمع لأحد بمثل هذه الأبيات حكمة وامثالاً من أولها إلى آخرها، وفيها من الأمثال ما يُضرب مثلاً للحكيم عند نسيانه.

فائدة نحوية: كافَّة • جاءَ النَّاسُ كافَّةً. أي: كلهم، ولا يدخلها (أل) ولا تُضاف، ولا تكون إلا منصوبةً على الحال. • مثل قوله تعالى:{وقاتلوا المشركينَ كَافَّةً كما يقاتلونكم كَافَّةً} • وقوله تعالى:{وما أرسلناكَ إلا كَافَّةً للنَّاس بشيرًا ونذيرًا}. • ومن يكتبها مضافةً أو بالتعريف كقولهم: «هذا قولُ كَافَّةُ العلماء» و «وذهبَ الكَافَّةُ» فهو خطأ معدودٌ في لحن وتحريف العوام.

كان أبو عمرو بن العلاء، وهو أحد القُرَّاء السبعة وإليه تنسب القراءة المشهورة، قراءة أبي عمرو، كان هذا القارئ اللغوي الناقد يُفضِّل شعرَ الأخطل النصراني، ثاني ثلاثة أبدعوا في وصف الخمر وهم: الأعشى، والأخطل، وأبو نواس، كان يفضله على بقية شعراء الإسلام، حتى إنه ليقول: لو أدرك الأخطل يومًا من الجاهلية ما قدمت عليه أحدًا. وكما نرى لم يلتفت أبو عمرو لدين الأخطل ولم يعبأ إلا بالجودة الفنية. وهذا دأب المنصفين، لا يروعهم دين…

فائدة نحوية: (مَعَ) ليست «مَعَ» حرفَ جرٍّ على الصحيح. وقد ذكرَ ابن السراج أنها هي اسمٌ، ويدلّك على ذلك أنَّها متحرّكةُ العين، ولو كانت حرفًا لما جاز تحريكُ العين فيها، وكذلك دخول التنوين عليها، كقولنا: (معاً) والتنوين من علامات الاسم لا الحرف. وعليه؛ فـ«مَعَ» من ظروف المكان غير المتصرِّفة. وانفرد النحاس بإعراب «مَعَ» حرفَ جرٍّ، متابعًا في ذلك لغةَ تميمٍ وربيعةَ في تسكين العين.
