The groups register

565,852 public Telegram groups and supergroups, with an exact member count on every one of them — read from the group’s own t.me/<name> profile page, the identical surface and the identical method the channel register uses. A group is a community, not an individual, which is the line this register draws around what it publishes: see how groups are measured for the full statement, including what is deliberately never collected.

This data was not built for this page. remeasure.py has re-measured groups on the same cadence as channels since it was written; nobody had noticed a second register was accruing until it was measured. Nothing here is a new crawl — it is what was already being paid for, published.

“Groups holding two or more readings” is real growth history — the same asset the channel register is built on, measured the same way, over however many days this second register has actually run. It is not modelled, interpolated or projected: a group with one reading has one reading, and its page says so.

The full top 100, with the change since each group’s own first measured reading — the column a self-reported directory cannot show: the largest groups, in full.

Which group pages are offered for search

The same measured-depth gate the channel register uses, on the same two terms (lib/depth.ts’s groupEligibleSql, sharing its thresholds with the channel gate rather than inventing new ones): a group entry is offered for indexing once it holds at least 3 member-count readings spanning at least 14 days, or once its latest measured count reaches 100,000 members. Every group page can still be fetched and its links followed — crawling and indexing are different switches, exactly as the channel register’s own methodology explains — but most group pages will answer noindextoday, for the same reason most channel pages did on launch day: this register’s history is only days deep.

What is deliberately not here

No membership. This register holds a group’s member count— an aggregate, read off the same public profile page a channel’s subscriber count comes from — and never who is in it. Member identities are not collected, not stored, and not in scope.

No topic, category or ranking beyond measured size.Same rule as the channel register’s own browse page: nothing here classifies a group by subject, and there is no score or traffic light.
