اشتهر قط الشوارع «تومبيلي» بجلسته الكسولة والمسترخية على أحد أرصفة حي زيفرباي في إسطنبول، حيث كان يقضي وقته في وضعية أصبحت لاحقًا رمزًا له. وبعد وفاته في أغسطس 2016، أطلق محبوه حملة شعبية جمعت آلاف التوقيعات للمطالبة بتخليد ذكراه، ليُقام بالفعل تمثال يجسّد جلسته الشهيرة في المكان نفسه. ومنذ ذلك الحين، أصبحت بعض القطط تُشاهد أحيانًا وهي تستريح بجوار التمثال، وكأنها تحافظ على ذكرى تومبيلي.

الضفدع المشعر، والمعروف أيضًا باسم "ضفدع وولفرين". يستوطن هذا الضفدع مناطق وسط إفريقيا، ويتميز بآلية دفاعية استثنائية. فعندما يشعر بالخطر، يعمد إلى كسر عظام أصابع قدميه، ثم يدفع بمخالب حادة عبر جلده ليستخدمها في الدفاع عن نفسه ضد الحيوانات المفترسة.

تُعد عظمة الركاب أصغر عظمة في جسم الإنسان، إذ لا يتجاوز طولها نحو 3 مليمترات، أي أنها أصغر من حبة أرز، تقع في الأذن الوسطى، وتتمثل وظيفتها في نقل الاهتزازات الصوتية من عظمة السندان إلى الأذن الداخلية، حيث يعالجها الدماغ لتُمكّن الإنسان من سماع الأصوات.

تقذف الزرافة برأسها للأعلى بعد أن ارتوت تمتلك الزرافة أكبر قلب بين الثدييات البرية، وهي ميزة ضرورية لضخ الدم عبر رقابها الطويلة إلى الدماغ ضد الجاذبية. عندما تشرب الماء فإنها تكون في أكثر حالاتها عرضة للخطر من المفترسات المتربصة، فعندما تنتهي من الشرب ترفع رأسها سريعًا بحركة مفاجئة قد تسبب الإغماء لمعظم الحيوانات بسبب التغير المفاجئ في ضغط الدم، لكن قلب الزرافة الضخم يضخ الدم بسرعة إلى الدماغ ما يحول دون حدوث ذلك

يعيش ضفدع الطحلب الفيتنامي في الغابات الرطبة شمالي فيتنام، ويشتهر بقدرته المذهلة على التمويه، إذ يمتلك جلداً أخضر خشناً مليئاً بالنتوءات يشبه الطحالب إلى حد كبير، وعندما يشعر بالخطر يبقى ساكناً تماماً أو يقفز إلى الماء، مما يجعل اكتشافه من قبل المفترسات أمراً بالغ الصعوبة. ويساعده هذا التنكر الاستثنائي على البقاء في بيئته الطبيعية.
