مِمَّا يضر بالمرء أن ينشأ في بيت كريم الأصل، أهله طيبون ذوو مروءة وجود وسؤدد، ليظن أن هذا هو الأصل في الناس؛ فيعاملهم كلهم بما اعتاد عليه بلا تكلف أو اصطناع. فيزعجه -بعد تجربته- أن يجد الأصل في الناس الشر لا الخير، ويسوؤه ما يجده من الجحود والنكران، ويدهشه استحلال الظلم والبغي. فما يزال به الناس حتى يصير إلى انعزال عنهم وكراهية لكل الخلق إلا بقية من أصحاب المروءات، وقليل ما هم! - حسام عبد الجواد.
