If I'm right about Gylfi, then everyone looking for the Platonic Demiurge moment in Norse myth is looking in the wrong places. Gylfi, who takes a name of Odin (Gangleri), may be equivalent to Fintan from the Settling of the Manor of Tara story, considering how Fintan/Finn is the usual parallel of Odin as a whole. This suggests that Gylfaginning isn’t a late invention, that Odin-Third may be equivalent to Trefuilngid Tre-eochair (“Triple Bearer Three-Edged”) who teaches Fintan the divisions of Ireland, which is the cosmic microcosm.
