Один из древнейших археологических памятников на территории Турции - Хеттское святилище воды 13 века до нашей эры, расположенное в 22 километрах севернее Бейшехира.
Оно представляет собой источник (вода ледяная, не выше 4 градусов, люди ходят по каналу и загадывают желания), бассейн и каменное святилище с изображением богов (очень похоже на древнеегипетскую культуру).

На вершине горы Немрут-Даг, на высоте более 2100 метров, находится древнее святилище царя Антиоха I Коммагенского. Его построили в I веке до н. э., окружив огромными статуями богов, орлов и львов.
Сегодня их гигантские каменные головы лежат прямо на террасах у вершины, создавая совершенно сюрреалистический пейзаж.
