در این میان، آنچه من تناقض آشکار ناسیونالیسم فارس میدانم، این است که ناسیونالیسم ایرانی همیشه از یک سو ادعا میکند «در ایران قومی به نام فارس وجود ندارد» و از سوی دیگر، پیوسته در حال گسترش جغرافیای فارس و قلمرو زبان فارسی است. این دو ادعا، از نگاه من، با یکدیگر سازگار نیستند.
