بالتأكيد. الرخاء يصنع الاستقرار، والاستقرار يصنع الركود، أما المعاناة والانهيار فيصنعان الأسئلة الوجودية الكبرى، عندما تسقط «الآلهة الحامية» للمدن، ويجد الإنسان نفسه عبداً في إمبراطورية غريبة، يسقط معها الإيمان الأعمى بالقبيلة والمكان. عندها فقط، يبدأ بالبحث عن شيء مطلق لا يموت بموت الملك، ولا يحترق باحتراق المعبد.
