سأل ابن منصور الإمام أحمد: هل سمعت في الحديث: "من وسع على عياله يوم عاشوراء وسع الله عليه سائر السنة"؟ فقال: نعم، رواه سفيان بن عيينة عن جعفر الأحمر عن إبراهيم بن محمد بن المنتشر أنه بلغه: أن من وسع على عياله يوم عاشوراء؛ وسع الله عليه سائر سنته. قال سفيان بن عيينة: قد جربناه منذ خمسين أو ستين سنة؛ فما رأيناه إلا خيرا. وذُكر عن جابر رضي الله عنه: جربناه فوجدناه كذلك.
