إنما الصبر مركب، لا يركبه إلا الأقوياء. أن تُجاهد نفسك على الرضا وقت الحزن، وعلى الشكر وقت المنع، وعلى الثقة وقت الخوف. هذه هي عبودية الصبر التي يُحبها الله ويرفع بها الدرجات. ما أطال الله عليك البلاء إلا لأنه يرى في قلبك قدرة على التحمل لم يجدها في غيرك، فهو يصطنعك على عينه، ويُهيئك لمنزلة لا يصل إليها إلا أهل الصبر واليقين.
