- عيب حبّ الذّكر: من عيبِ حبّ الذّكر أنه يُحبِط الأعمال إذا أحبّ عاملُها أن يُذكر بها، فكاد يكونُ شركاً، لأنه يعملُ لغير الله ﷻ، وهو يطمِسُ الفضائل، لأنّ صاحبه لا يكادُ يفعلُ الخير حُبّاً للخير، لكن ليُذكر! - الأخلاق والسّير (صـ٧٩). رزقنا اللّٰهُ وإيّاكم الإخلاص في القول والعمل.
- حدّ العِفة! حدّ العِفّة أن تغُضّ بصرك، وجميعَ جوارِحك عنِ الأجسامِ الّتي لا تحِلّ لك، فما عدا هذا فهو عُهرٌ، وما نقصَ حتّى يمسِكُ عمّا أحلّ اللهُ تعالى فهو ضعفٌ وعجزٌ. - الأخلاق والسّير (صـ٦٨).

- المُسارعة إلى العملِ الصّالح وإن قلَّ لا تحقِر ممّا ترجُو به تثقيلَ ميزانِك يومَ البعثِ أن تعجّلهُ الآن؛ وإن قلّ، فإنّه يَحُطّ عنك كثيراً، لو اجتمع لقُذف بك في النّار. - الأخلاق والسّير (صـ٥٧).

- لا تؤجّل عمل اليومِ إلى الغد! لا تحقِر شيئاً مِن عملِ غدٍ أن تحقّقه بأن تُعجّله اليومَ، وإن قلّ، فإنّ من قليلِ الأعمالِ يجتمعُ كثيرُها، ورُبّما أعجزَ أمرُها عندَ ذلك، فبطلَ الكلّ. - الأخلاق والسّير (صـ٥٦).
- توفِيق الله ﷻ: وقفَ العقلُ عند أنّه لا ينفعُ إن لم يُؤيّد بتوفيقٍ في الدّينِ، أو بسعدٍ في الدّنيا. قال الشاعر: إذا لَم يَكُنْ مِنَ اللهِ عونٌ للفتى فأوّلُ ما يَقضِي عليـه اجتهادُهُ! - الأخلاق والسّير (صـ٤٤).

- الأخلاقُ مواهِب مِن الله تعَالى! وقد رأيتُ من أغمارِ العامّة¹ مَن يجري من الاعتدالِ، وحميدِ الأخلاقِ إلى ما لا يتقدّمُه فيه حكيمٌ عالمٌ رائضٌ لنفسِه، ولكنّه قليلٌ جدّاً. ورأيتُ ممّن طالعَ العلومَ، وعرف عهود الأنبياءِ عليهم السلام، ووصايا الحكماءِ؛ وهو لا يتقدّمُه في خُبثِ السّيرة وفسادِ العلانيةِ والسريرةِ شرارُ الخلق، وهذا كثيرٌ جدّاً، فعلمتُ أنّها مواهبُ وحرمانٌ من الله تعالى. - الأخلاق والسّير، صـ(٤٨-٤٩). ــ…
ومع هذا الفضل كلِّه، والعلم الذي شهد لها به أكابرُ الصحابة والتابعون والأئمة، لم تُزكِّ نفسها يومًا؛ فلمّا دخل عليها ابنُ عباس رضي الله عنهما ليودّعها أثناء مرض موتها، بحضور ابنِ أخيها، فجعل يُبشّرها ويُثني عليها ويذكر مناقبها، قالت:«دعني منك يا ابنَ عباس، فوالذي نفسي بيده، لوددتُ أني كنتُ نسيًا منسيًّا!».
