چرخ خرمن با صدای سوزناکش خوشههای طلایی گندم را خرد میکرد. گاوها که در اثر سیخک پشتشان زخم شده بود با شاخهای بلند و پیشانی گشاده تا غروب دور خودشان میگشتند. وضع او اکنون مثل همان گاوها بود. حالا میدانست این جانوران چه حس میکردند. او هم تمام زندگی چشمبسته بدور خودش چرخیده بود، مانند یابوی عصاری، مانند آن گاوها که خرمن را میکوبیدند.
